Word For Wednesday: Surviving or Thriving?

No Survivor Am I

My worth isn’t measured by my current condition,
Opinions of others, or my present position.
Though my foot may slip, I am not incomplete,
My failures are never my final defeat.
By God’s grace, I’ll dance though the fire,
Knowing by faith I’ll not drown in the mire.
A survivor is never what I shall be
But a powerful overcomer for others to see.
My suffering, I’ll know, was never in vain,
Seeing someone’s miracle brought out of my pain.
My destiny isn’t sealed by today’s situation;
My current position is not my final destination.

Romans 8:
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:
For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  1. That passage in Romans is my all-time favorite passage of Scripture. If I had to name a life verse, those verses are it.

    It is hanging on my wall, printed on my business cards, continually on my mind, and frequently spoken to those who are in despair.

    Nothing...nothing...nothing can separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus, my Lord.

    Those are words I hold in my hand.

    1. Yes...there are some days that I need to be reminded that nothing can pull me out of the hand of God.

  2. Beautiful words, Meg, in your poem (you really should get them together and publish them). I too love the scripture you quoted from Romans 8; that is a great chapter!
