Quiet Reflections

This morning, I am missing my Aunt Margaret.   She was such a tender soul. This world is a colder place without her.   She was genuinely nice, she was beautiful and full of faith.  She was a very vital part of my family, and now she is in Heaven.  As I contemplate upcoming family get-togethers, I cannot imagine her not being a part of it.  I often I think of her.

As I sit here typing, I quietly reflect on just how short life really is…even if we live to be 80 or 90 or beyond…life is a vapor, we appear for a little while and then vanish away. (James 4:14)   My Dad is 80, my Mom is 76. I have not had them nearly long enough.   If I live to be 70 and they are still here, I will not have had them long enough.   Even a full lifetime on earth is brief, especially for those we love.

Over the years as I have matured a little in Christ, I realize that I am blessed beyond measure.   I come from good stock:  my praying parents and grandparents.  God has been immensely good to my family.  I am humbled and so greatly appreciative of His mercy and grace towards me.   I am now a praying grandmother, and because of the blessings in my own life, I have full faith that God will watch over my family, even my grandchildren’s children, and their children as well, as long as the Lord tarries.  We will continue to pass the mantle down through prayer, faith and trust in a loving and merciful God.

  1. How is your uncle doing? You are so right, Meg, even if we had them for 70 or plus years, we still would want one more day with them. Your quiet reflections are great ones today; I'm just sorry it includes missing someone you truly love.

    1. He's doing some better. He left rehab early, and he's home where he wanted to be. He can't stay by himself, there are a couple of nurses that take care of him. He has a long way to go.

  2. Life is short, really. We are all just passing through here. It is good to acknowledge your blessings, and to share them with loved ones.

  3. I'm pleased you've got such a happy relationship with your parents and your religion is a big part of your life. Instead of mentioning my own parents, I will say that our son is now 31 and although he's lived and worked abroad for about 8 years, we are still close and visit each other.
