About Wisdom, Water, Weather, and Woodpeckers

Weekend...
Just about every Monday when I hit the snooze button for the first time, my thought is, "I can't believe the weekend is over..."    And can you believe this is the last week (four days, actually) of the A to Z challenge?   The month seems to have flown by!   But don't they all?

Waking up...
Why is it that on Saturday and Sunday, I am good and awake no later than 6 a.m., but on Monday, I want to sleep until 8??

Wisdom...
Sometimes we need the wisdom to know that when everyone is fighting with you, they may not be 100% at fault.   There are times when people are not acting so much as reacting.

Waiting...
Patience is a virtue....that I don't have.   I may have a bit more than I used to, but I don't like to wait on someone else to do/finish something they had plenty of time do to but waited until the last minute to start it.   I won't mention that I do it a lot and that's probably one reason I don't like it in others.

Weather...
It was four years ago today that tornadoes devastated Alabama.  When it was over, there was a path of destruction over 80 miles long, through at least three counties costing over $2 billion in damages, and left 238 people dead in Alabama.   April 25-28, 2011, the United States saw 355 tornadoes, the largest outbreak in history.   Alabama's destruction was only part of it.

  1. Wow, I can't believe its been four years with those tornados. Time does fly. You are right, this month has flown. You are also right about sleeping patterns on the weekend compared to the work week :)

What a cute woodpecker that feeds at your house :)

    1. I can't believe it's been four years, either. I swear it feels like barely two years ago. We have lots of birds in the yard...Ole Boy has been diligent to feed them for as long as we've lived there...nearly 19 years.

    1. We have another small type of woodpecker that comes around at times, too. I've never seen a Pileated Woodpecker in my yard, though. That would be really cool!

  3. Time. I remember my grandmother saying how fast time went by as you got older. I remember thinking that was an odd thing for her to say. Sighhh. I guess the good news is that I've lived long enough to say the same thing!

    I wonder why it feels that way, tho. I mean, time itself doesn't change from one person to another as they share the same space, it's our perception. I wonder if someone has figured that out...or if I have to do it. }

    Loved that tiger.

    1. When I was a child, a year seemed a life time. Now, it seems as if I blink and it's another New Year's Eve.

      That tiger was gorgeous!

  4. Beautiful pictures. We had a tornado-like (not as bad as a real tornado) storm come through our town, and it was scary. I have never had to deal with a tornado, but have a much greater respect for the power of nature and the tenacity of those who live through it.

I did not want to get up this morning. I have been sluggish all day.

I'm pretty slow at getting done. Though when it's something I owe someone else, I try to get it done as quickly as I can. I admire go getters, cause I'm not one of them. :)

  5. Like Betty said, I can't believe it's been 4 years. I recall sitting in front of our TV with tears on my face. And later, when Rascal Flatts performed "I Won't Let Go"? Wow.

On a brighter note, that shot of your sunflower is wonderful!

    1. Thank you!

Yes...I saw the destruction first hand. Simply overwhelming.
