The Friday Five

What’s that you say?  What is The Friday Five?
So glad you asked!
It's just five...thoughts, or ideas, or random items,
with a theme, without a theme...just 5.  Five!

Five things I don’t understand:

  • Why Fifty Shades of Grey, and all its BDSM darkness, is so popular with women.   In a world of self-proclaimed feminists and the quest for equal rights, why would a movie about bondage, dominance/discipline and sadomasochism be raking in millions of dollars?
  • How houses burn down...when I consider how hard it is to get a good, hot fire going in my fire place on a cold winter’s morning.
  • How I ended up with a stomach bug twice in the same month.
  • Why the second time is never as good as the first.
  • Why it was so hard to come up with five things I don’t understand.  I’m no genius, this shouldn’t have taken so long.

What's your Five?

  1. Ick with the stomach bug! I truly don't get the 50 shades thing either, definitely won't be getting my money.

    5 things I don't understand:
    1. How time can stand still on a work day and fly by on the weekend.
    2. How we can be having so much pleasant weather and other parts of the country are in a deep freeze.
    3. How people don't realize their need for Jesus.
    4. How I can't sleep through the night but yawn all afternoon while working.
    5. How I like clean laundry but hate to fold clothes :)

  2. I don't understand the Shades of Grey thing either. Bill O'reily said it was the worst book he'd ever read and quit about 60% in. I didn't read it. I don't do pornography--no matter hoow much the media and celebs hype it.

    I also don't understand why the time stamp at the bottom of your post said 5:39 AM, but didn't show on my reading list until after 8PM. :{

I don't understand why the pediatric dose of epilepsymedicine the doc gave me is making me feel tipsy, although it IS taking care of the neuritis--for which I'm very grateful.. :} (It really does feel like I've had one glass of wine too many.)

I don't understand how it is that young parents seem to be deaf and blind to their small children. Have cell phones increased parents' ability to tune out their children while decreasing their awareness that discipline is needed--even when the cell phone is not in use. (If there is a time when cell phones are not in use.)

I don't understand how it is that I have two master's degrees, but couldn't seem to find the right Tide formulation and size bottle that I I wanted amongst the 3 zillion varieties at Walmart this evening. (The elderly lady inching up and down the aisle beside me couldn't find what she wanted either. Oh, wait, I think she was my age!)

I don't understand how I've gotten so darn old (63) while still thinking I'm only 45. :} I'm startled every time I see an old person only to find out they're my age.

    I think that's five.
