A lot on my mind...

....not least of which is Lucy, my outside dog.

When she was born to a dog we inherited from my stepdaughter, she had some issues.  Ole Boy diligently nursed her back to health.  When it came time to give the puppies away, he never considered letting her go.

Last week, we noticed a orange-sized growth on her inside back leg.   It must have appeared quite quickly, as it was big enough that surely we would have noticed...it's very obvious.

The vet's initial blood tests on Saturday indicate cancer.   There's another area that may or may not be cancerous.   She is undergoing surgery this morning.  At 12 years old, for a 60 pound dog...I worry not just about the cancer but the anesthesia as well.

Like I said....I have a lot on my mind, not least of which is Lucy...other things bothering me, as well.

UPDATE:  Lucy is home and doing pretty well.   Now, if we can just keep the other two from disturbing her, we may be on the right path to recovery.

  2. Poor Lucy! I hope she makes a quick recovery and that if it was cancer, it got removed with the surgery.

  3. Aww, I hope Lucy makes a swift recovery. And if feeling Loved counts, then I am sure she knows she is loved and that will help her feel peaceful and heal fast. Sending gentle belly rubs to Lucy. :-)

  4. Saint Francis Prayer for sick pets:
Heavenly Father, please help us in our time of need. You have made us stewards of [LUCY.]. If it is Your will, please restore him/her to health and strength. I pray, too, for other animals in need. May they be treated with the care and respect deserving of all Your creation. Blessed are You, Lord God, and holy is Your name for ever and ever. Amen.

May you find peace praying this simple prayer and also in asking St Francis to pray for Her comfort. Asking a Saint, the Angels or the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray for us is the same as asking a best friend to pray with you and for you to the most high God the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

  5. May your baby Lucy be on the mends. As the owner of 3 rescues, I know they are like our children.
